the movement you need is on your shoulder

So I saw that this tour was going to be coming through Philadelphia called, "The Up and Coming Tour" by some artist named Paul McCartney.  I thought, "Up and coming?  There must be some promise there!" And the tickets were purchased and after a lot of waiting, I went with my parents and Jenell to see this up and coming artist.
Shockingly enough, Paul McCartney is pretty amazing to see live.  He really did earn his dollar which was nice.  He played for about 3 and a half hours, which is something I can say I've never seen happen with other concerts I've been to.

I read a book awhile ago, Nick Hornby's, "High Fidelity" and in it, he sees a picture of Paul McCartney as a kid and is kind of blown away by the idea that that kid had no idea what was coming for him.  The little Paul didn't realize he'd be in one of the most revolutionary bands of all time and he'd go on to become a legend.  And he wondered  if someone could go back in time and show little  Paul McCartney a picture of himself in the future and was to tell him what he was destined for, what would little Paul McCartney think?   I always thought that was an interesting statement, and Paul actually answered if for me at the show.  And basically, if someone told him when he was younger what was going to happen with his life, he'd just brush them off and tell them they were full of it.

Mystery solved.

But yes, the show was pretty awesome, I'd go again!  It was cool to see Paul play these legendary songs he's had a hand in.  Plus, watching all the people sing along and freak out about his songs and sing the end of "Hey Jude" together was also pretty BOSS.  You can see the "Hey Jude"-ness singalong here:

PAUL MCCARTNEY... you are CMC APPROVED.

i run a tidy bakery

I love seeing "COMP" or "$0.00" on concert tickets!!! I won tickets to the Honda Civic Tour by texting in at right time on morning before work.  This means I got to go see Kawa-dada (that is probably not his name), New Found Glory, Tegan and Sara, and Paramore....FOR FREE!  WHACHA!!
I'm pretty good at winning radio contents (knock on wood..)  I've also won the following:
(1) Foo Fighters Tickets
(2) Good Charlotte Tickets
(3) Y100 FEZtival Tickets
(4) I won Weezer Tickets once.  They said I won and then when they put me on hold to get my information, they realized the contest was over in the last hour.  So I guess I didn't win.  But I did...  Damn it.

and now this.  One day I'll have to focus on trying to win a radio contest that offers trips or money....

And after I picked up the tickets... this happened:

you can take my breath away

Lady at Check in:  Are you here for the 4.0 award or best of quater award?
Jenell:  Both

HELL YEAH THAT'S HOW SHE DO!!!

Went to Philadelphia to see Jenell get awards for being super smart and a super dedicated worker at her school.  They were totally deserved, cause I don't know anyone who has ever worked harder than her in college, haha.

So proud of her!  And like I told her many times that evening, this was the first award ceremonies of many.
Good work, Shitty, keep it up!

i want to bathe with you in the sea

soooooooooooooo

Jenell and I went to west chester to see TAYLOR HAWKINS AND THE COATTAIL RIDERS.

Of course, with this comes opening bands. Here is a picture of one of them.
This dude ... sigh. He said something to the effect of, "Some people would call this a stage, but we call it the Hospital of Regrets and Dreams" or something like that. And in this photo above, he's hugging an empty Heart Box that was once filled with chocolates (i presume).. things like this happened. "Have you ever stared at the sun for so long that you saw spots? That's what this song is all about. It's called, 'Spots from the Sunlight" I mean come on...

However. The lead singer was actually very nice, and if we never went to say good bye to him... we would have never met Taylor, so I'm not gonna give their name and mock them too much.. He should just lose his stage persona cause it was a bit ridiculous.

ANYWAY, this is Taylor Hawkins. Horraaay. I liked his set very much. Jenell even danced to "Cold Day in the Sun" -- yeah she danced it out!

BUT ANYWAY WE MET TAYLOR HAWKINS LATER. YEAH WE DID. I kept whispering to Jenell, "I've never been this close to a foo fighter!" and things like, "i'm gonna tell him we have the same birthday!" ohhh lots of stupid things. One time, I met my favorite female bass player, Melissa Auf der Maur, and she said something and I stupidly spit out, "I want a picture with just you cause you're my idol" almost as simply as someone would say, "Pass me the ketchup?" And mind you, I was 20 at this point. So I had no excuse!!

So of course, when I went to talk to Taylor, all I could think to say was, "We have the same birthday" .... but no. Thank GOD I did not spew that out. Instead, Jenell told him that Dave Grohl was a better singer than him. And he was also informed of what a big fan I was. I just thank God I didn't tell him we had the same birthday... or that we both have 13 letters in our name AND we're 13 years apart in age.... or that when I was 14 I taped my head over his girlfriend's head.... THINGS LIKE THAT. I'm happy that all stayed in my mouth.

But yeah, what DO you say to someone you who had such a big impact on your life? You're standing there with a crowd of people, and you get your "moment" with them and what do you say? To me, spitting out something like, "you've had such a huge impact on my life!" is so cheesy to say.

Essentially, they're just a stranger whom you happen to know a LOT about, but they know nothing about you. So WHAT do you say?

All I know is I was shakey and nervous and went completely blank, haha.

But, I'm super excited about it and I'm suuuper stoked it happen and that Jenell was there so more happened than just a signed ticket haha.

HISTORY, PEOPLE!

new fang

SO ON FRIDAY NIGHT. I went to Philly to see a screening of an animated film called, "The Romantic". I've been hearing about the movie for awhile because my dear friend, and devoted Blogger, Nathan composed all the music for the movie. Needless to say, his music accompanied the film to a "t" and it was an overall success. Here is Nathan thanking his parents for giving him birth.

After that, Nathan stood around and looked like a genius for about an hour and enjoyed a vegan pig in a blanket. He also talked to Warren and other people who thought he was a genius as well. Honestly, he did a good thing. Sometimes the movie got a little confusing, so it was nice to have Nathan's music to accompany the mood so you knew if something good or bad was happening, haha. I was impressed. I know I couldn't sit down and compose music for a 90 minute movie. But I am proud to say I know someone who can and further say I was in a band with him.. (yay for bragging rights!) Anyway, here is what it looked like when Nathan stood around for an hour looking like a genius:

genius!

Also in attendance, my dear friend, Jenell. Not pictured: Her voice, who was not present at the event either.

The movie itself was pretty cool. I sat down later and tried to piece it together chronologically and it all worked out. I loved the way the animation looked, it was a dark film that looked at love and heartbreak. Very cool stuff. UNFORTUNATELY, I did miss about 5 minutes of the film because I started to feel really lightheaded and sick.. anxiety ridden. THAT SUCKED. But everything else was good. Make sure you check out the site, and you can just watch the trailer here:

now if she does it like this will you do it like that?

Due to lots of confusion and scheduling and such, Jenell and I were FORCED to take a road trip to upstate new york (is it upstate? It seems upstate. anyway.)

HERE IS OUR TALE.
AS SOME MAY KNOW - i really enjoy rest stops. Why? I'm not sure. But I do. We stopped at this rest stop and it was just so odd and not what I expected. There were signs to stop at this rest stop which had a Hewbrew Nation Hot Dog stop and a Krispy Kreme and such, it made it sound like a legit deal. bbbuuutttt
the bathrooms had no toliet paper and working hours.
the place was a bit small and kinda cute.
the inside was so tiny, and this was the hewbrew nation hot dog stop,a nd the krispy kreme thing was just a small box on the counter.
I don't know why it made me laugh so much... but it did. I think it's one of those, "had to be there" things.

HO-HO-KUS
A CAR USED IN "THE BOTMON" MOVIE.
DRAGONS TAKE ROAD TRIPS TOO!

As you can see, we were seeing a lot of insane stuff, so Jenell had to stop to go to the bathroom again before she pee-ed herself for real. While she did that, I found a sign that suggested people have soiled hands and touch tshirts. I also made one of those pressed pennies but i fucked it up.. so I left it in the machine for someone else to find and treasure.

BUT WE FINALLY MADE IT.
here's us with the vehicle we traveled in. yup. this is it! the ol' van. we decorated it for like... 7 hours... wow I'm so glad we took a picture with our car to remember all the hardwork we did for it. The party van. Whew. we're so awesome, you know?

I didn't take my camera in and I wasn't going to take any pictures, but it's really amazing how tall this kid was. Really amazing. so I had to take one with my "cellie" to remember this kid.
SO AFTER ALL THAT, we got back in the car and sat in traffic and stopped at more rest stops that had lots of people praying at them and all. It was a long ride home, but we made it.

Any trip that gets you some glow sticks is a trip well done.

come on, come out. just come on, come out.

All right, we were all talking about Dave&Buster's earlier and Jenell and I told the story about our favorite attraction there.
We went to D&B awhile ago for her brother's BDay and we found this amazing machine that takes your picture and someone else's pictures, combines them, and shows you what your child would look like.
As you can see, Jenell and I would come up with this adorable Puerto Rican baby who appeared to be worried constantly. We would also give her an awful haircut and make her wear terrible clothes. I feel like we named her.. but I can't remember now what it was.
Oh and please note: We did not plan to make the same face when our picture was taken.
