we'll talk a cup of kindness yet

FIRST PICTURE OF 2011!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorta, at least.  the other 2 were blurry. so deal.

New Years was fun.
Jenell smoked an electronic cigarette for fun while Matt committed bad crimes

Meanwhile, Steve slept

Jenell and I also showed off our sparkles.

AND ON THAT NOTE, here's my 2010 mix.  (aka songs that will forever remind me of 2010)

took out the license and it cold said Santa Claus

I didn't go to work today because my back had left the building.  So one of this things I did in between ice and heat is organize some Christmas music back onto my ipod.  See how it says 74 songs for that playlist?  I've since downsized it.

Anyway, doing this list there were specific songs I wanted on my ipod, and I realized I did indeed have some "holidays essentials" and here they are:

1.  Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You
2.  No Doubt - Oi to the World
3.  Tom Petty - Christmas All Over Again
4.  Conan - Minty the Candy Cane
5.  Bobby Helms - Jingle Bell Rock
6.  U2 - Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)
7.  Fiona Apple - Frosty the Snow Man
8.  Sheryl Crown - Blue Christmas
9.  John Lennon - Happy Christmas (War Is Over)
10.  Britney Spears - My Only Wish (This Year)

14.  The Waitresses - Christmas Wrapping
15.  Jose Feliciano - Feliz Navidad
16.  Jimmy Eat World - Last Christmas

well well well

I found this outline for a mix on some website and decided to make a mixCD based on it.  I then wrote a brief description of what each song represented on the front of the CD.
WELL.

The other night, Jenell and I were looking through the CDs I have in my car and found this one and I wanted to hear what some of the stuff was that was on it.  Needless to say, while listening to it, I realized I could have done much much better and replaced some of the categories (like 'a song  by a band you hate') with better categories.

Anyway, here's the new list.  Now I just have to burn the cd.

- Reminds you of Someone.
Kelly Clarkson, “since you’ve been gone”

- Reminds you of Somewhere
Elvis Presley, “Viva Las Vegas”

-  Reminds you of an Event
Nelly featuring Christina Aguilera, “Nod Your Head”

- A Song you know All the Words to
JayZ, “99 Problems”

- A Song you love to Dance to
Lady Gaga, “Bad Romance”

- A Song From your Favorite Band
Foo Fighters, “Home”

- A Song You Used to Hate But Now Like
Tracey Chapman, "Give Me One Reason"

- Reminds You of High school
Good Charlotte, "East Coast Anthem"

- A Guilty Pleasure Song
Carrie Underwood, “Before He Cheats”

- A Song You Hear a Lot on the Radio
James, "Laid"

-   A Song From One of Your Favorite Albums
 Rancid, "She's Automatic"

- Song from the Last Band You Saw Live
Jimmy Eat World, "If You Don't Don't"

- A Song For When You're Happy
Wham!, “Wake Me Up Before You Go Go”

- A Song For When You're Sad
Regina Spektor, "Somedays"

i staggered back to the underground

While going through old CDs just to find one song.... I found this jem.  A long time ago, someone - I believe it was Jenell - challenged me to make a CD based on the TV show "Lost".  AND ACTUALLY, I was watching the show tonight and thought of a theme song for Desmond this season... but first.. let's see what the original consisted of.

(1)   John Denver - Leaving on a Jet Plane
(2)   Muse - Apopcalypse Now
(3)   Van Morrison - Stranded
(4)   The Suicide Machines - S.O.S
(5)   Daniel Beddingfield - Gotta Get Through This
(6)   The Who - Who Are You?
(7)   DriveShaft - You All Everybody
(8)   The Who - Behind Blue Eyes
(9)   Ben Folds - Kate
(10)  Sting - If I Ever Lose My Faith
(11)  PJ Harvey - Meet Ze Monsta
(12)  Styx - Come Sail Away
(13)  The Beatles - Help!
(14)  Mudhoney - Night of the Haunted
(15)  No Doubt - Trapped in a Box
(16)  Regina Spektor - Apres Moi
(17)  Tom Petty - Won't Back Down
(18)  Good Charlotte - S.O.S.

okay so that was the original "LOST" mix, that now that I look at it, Jenell probably suggested number 3 and 8, so I'm pretty positive she suggested this theme.

Anyway, with the current state of "LOST" i'd like to add two songs to this mix.

(19)  The Libertines - What Katie Did (hello that's practically a title of one of the episodes this season if 'katie' was only 'kate')
(20)  Jay-Z - Onto the Next One (DESMOND'S NEW JAM, WHAAAAT?!)

okay. that's enough "lost" shit.
onto the next one onto the next one onto the next one

don't let it go away, this feeling has got to stay

I went to the gym today for the first time since my whole back injury thing.  I never wanted to further irritate anything, but with recent developments, I've taken to damning the man and going against the odds (the odds that one doctor has told me about, anyway.)
As I was there, I was listening to my workout playlist, and I thought the randomness in it was pretty hysterical.  It jumps from lots of genres...

the current workout playlist
Gossip Folk - Missy Elliot
Feedback - Janet Jackson
Womanizer - Britney Spears
Ghetto Love - Spinerette
Paranoiattack - The Faint
What Are You Waiting For? - Gwen Stefani
The Human Drive (in HiFi) - CKY
Ignorance - Paramore
2 Hearts - Kylie Minogue
(If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To - Weezer
Keep Your Hands off My Girl - Good Charlotte
XR2 - M.I.A.
Lucifer - JayZ
Beautiful, Dirty, Rich - Lady Gaga
Quiet Dog - Mos Def
Upgrade U - Beyonce
Bang On - The Breeders
Party and Bullshit (ratatat remix) - Notorious B.I.G
EPro - Beck
Joker and the Night - Wolfmother
The New Workout Plan - Kanye West
I Know What I Am - Band of Skulls

all I really need is a good song that drives right on through.

storm clouds dissolved into thin air

Jenell did this thing with her blog where she posted a youtube video or whatever. And really, for this post, I thought a youtube video would really display the feelings behind my sentiments below. If you feel I'm doing a terrible job and straying from my idea of a "picture blog" here is the picture. And the picture is pretty classic, so I recommend it.
but for today, those who feel it's okay for me to do this, here is the youtube update.
it shows just how much FUN children can be
