Saw "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" and here's what I learned:

Edward from Twilight is to Vampires what Ariel is to Mermaids.

Both are tame versions to make us love vampires and mermaids because really, their species are vicious monsters.

But Mermaids are pretty damned bad ass. I think the next Pirates movie should be Serena the Mermaid and her lover in an updated "Romeo and Juliet" tale where they try to make Mermaids be cool with the sailors and vice versa just so we can see more awesome Mermaid fights while Jack Sparrow plays both sides and comes up with fun escape methods and giving ridiculous one liners.

Or not. I'll just leave it to the professionals

Met up with Matt for dinner and had this awesome drink in a mason jar. It was called, "Lemonhead" and had alcohol in it, but tasted just like lemonade. I could have drank them all night long, they were so good, alas.. I gotta drive.

After we ate, Jenell left the classy event she was at and came with us to meet Lisa and her friends for some dancing and such at Drinkers.

I was pretty scared to hear this album (much like I was to hear Britney's) because those "teaser" songs she put out were not really my cup of tea. But after listening to this album for a week, I can safely say I like it. I even started to like those teaser songs she put out.. weird.

A lot of the songs are MUCH different from what she's done in the past, but yeah, I still like it.

After many hours in a car, we all made it to Erie, PA for the first of two bridal shower's for my brother's fiancee. Let's see what I can remember about this day..

Some 40+ woman was put off by the lewd humor in "Bridesmaids", Lindsey got a lot of stuff, Lindsey's family is so nice, I bought new shoes at DSW, we got to see Lindsey in her wedding dress, we celebrated my grandmother's birthday at Oakmont where my sister felt like she was hanging out with Jay-Z (it was just my Uncle, though.), and we drove in the car. A lot.

Very fun day. Very exhausting day. Very.

I became aware of this band through Dave Grohl on twitter. He thanked this band for writing the best song of 2011 so far, "Whirring". I decided to check out the song and thought it was pretty insane and previewed the rest of the album and thought, "yeah i'll buy it" and so it was.

The album is okay. A lot of the songs kinda mesh together after awhile.. a lot of them have big instrumental build ups at the end.. but it's okay! I don't hate it, but I'm not obsessed with it.

But this song is really freakin good..

My poor little Kitten (okay she's not a kitten..) has been really sick on and off for a long time now. The past few days she had gotten progressively worse. The vet said she had a tumor in her stomach or large intestine and to see how she did over the weekend. Unfortunately, she wasn't eating and was hardly drinking, so she ended up taking a major turn for the worse and the decision was made to put her down.

I miss her very much, the house feels a bit more empty now. But really, it's for the best, because it was heartbreaking to watch her struggle to even walk.

While she was a bitchy cat and wasn't the nicest to my sister or strangers, she was super nice to me and I did love her, and I'm glad she was alive as long as she was.

My brother came home on his birthday, and when I was sent on the mission to buy him a cake or a cupcake.. I decided to go to a local bakery and found my decision was spot on. Why? Because they sold sparkler candles there.

Went to see THE KILLS! Alison Mosshart is such a badass. I've always liked the kills, but The Dead Weather made me realize that she's this really cooool rockstar with a awesome voice.

Needless to say, it was a fun show. The Kills played lots off the new album and some hits.. fun times.

Jenell and I even learned a thing or two about being a rockstar like Alison. Here's the big one we learned...

While coming in from "outside time" one of the kids in my class was like, "OO A BUG" and I was like, "it's not a bug" and when I got closer, I leaned down and was like, "oh my GOD get away it's huge" and I was pushing the kids to get away from it and getting all jumpy and telling the woman I work with, "That is the biggest bug I have ever seen in my life"

The next morning, we went outside and the bug was still there -- Hadn't moved since we had seen it the afternoon before.

I made these banging cupcakes. They were the easiest cupcakes to make ever. All I had to do was take yellow cake mix and mix it with a can of crushed pineapple and follow the baking directions on the box. The icing was fluff, cream cheese and more crushed pineapples. Not only were they delicious, but they were incredibly easy to pull of.

I did not want to see any spoilers and have the movie ruined for me, so I got Matt to go see "Scream 4" with me. I love the "Scream" franchise even though the 1st was (and will probably always) be the best. This one was okay, and I didn't see the "Killer" coming, but at the same time, you know what's gonna happen. The Ghostface dude is gonna show up when people are alone and kill them. So .. I dunno.. it was good but at the same time, I'd tell people to wait to see it for free on a movie channel one day.

After the movie, I had to stop at Target, and when I went back to my car after my purchase, I no longer had my car keys. The Ghostface killer probably stole them outta my bag with intent to kill me when I got home after getting my spare set.

That or I locked my keys in my car.

Whichever.

Here is our painting of a Blind Fire Breathing Dragon attacking a village on Christmas Eve while an Owl decides to save the commoners by launching itself off of the Christmas Star and into the flapping wings of the dragon. It's a comment on social status. Figure it out. Topher approves.

AW SNAP!
A new Foo Fighters album!
I was really stoked about this because lots of reviews were saying it was so good, and I was totally buying into that hype. I loved "Rope" and I loved the songs that were played in the "Back and Forth" documentary they played.. so I WAS STOKED.
And I was not let down. This album is pretty badass. Again, I might be completely biased in this opinion, but eh, I think it's good. I feel safe in saying if you like the Foo Fighters, you'll like this album. It sounds like a Foo Fighters album

The problem with being so behind on these updates is that a lot can happen in a month.
When I took this picture, I thought it was funny that outside time with my pet involved going outside to watch her roll around on some bricks and making sure she didn't chase squirrels. It's not crazy fun or anything, I mean I always felt good that she enjoyed being outside so much, but if I knew then how things would be NOW, I'd be thrilled to just be sitting on a step watching her sniff stuff and roll around.

While waiting in the subway to go to a pillow fight that was already over in a park, Matt, Stef and I decided to pass the time by playing the game... uhm... I don't know what it's called. What I do know is that you shout a random circumstance, like, "You're hair is on fire!" and the other players are supposed to play along and react to what you say, and you take the picture of their reaction.

We played for awhile, and there were some great pictures taken. This was my favorite, because I said something and they couldn't make out what I said. They were asking me what I said as I took the picture and this was a natural and real expression from both of them.

How amazing is that?

Ah April First.
My weekend with Stef and Matt started with me playing an April Fool's Joke on Matt. Here's how it went.
(supposed to be at matt's at 7pm, we had dinner reservations at 9pm.)
6:50pm. I'm a block away from Matt's house.

Me: Shit! Matt! I just woke up and I haven't even packed! I'm gonna be sooo late.
Matt: All right, be careful getting up here.

As I drive in front of Matt's house, he's coming down the stairs and I'm waving with the windows down and and screaming, "APRIL FOOOOOLS" and he stops and just looks kinda stunned as I go to park my car.

I guess somone forgot about the holiday!

Anyway, after I had a good laugh at my own joke, Stef, Matt and I went to the restaurant where Matt's Famous Uncle Karl runs the bar. We got really good food and some good beer before going back to Matt's to read him his autobiography.

I don't know why Matt hates Stef and I.

Jenell and I went shopping and found that one of our little collections that was only exclusive to Disney parks has now branched out to Disney Stores! You buy the box, and you don't know what design will be inside. It's a very challenging and frustrating collection to have..

Because you get your design totally by chance, Jenell always has the worst luck with picking out which box to get. She always gets the one she doesn't want. Even this time, she wanted the sundae one, and she got Stromboli instead! Luckily, I picked the Sundae one by chance and we traded. I'm cool like that.

I'd tell you how this "armed intruder" drill went (i know it involved gun shots and banging on doors), however, I wasn't in the building. Because if the people running the drill spotted me, I would have been taken hostage, and really, I would have rather just hung out outside and waited til it was okay to go back inside. Jenell and I went and stood on the balcony at Johnny Brenda's to see her perform! At first, we were behind her biggest fan in the world. I swear it. Every time she played a song off of "Neptune City", he'd stand up and sing all the words while his friend looked to be SUPER embarrassed.

The show was flawless, I say! She even kept her cover of Roy Oribson's "Crying" in the show. Wanna hear it? It's really good. Scope it.

Went to the TLA (i can't remember what the new name is right now) to see this band:

Jenell came with me. It's always awkward when Benji does his song "emotionless" about his dad leaving their family and Jenell and I laugh while there are girls crying and singing their hearts out. It's like we need someone there explaining it's an inside joke. We're not assholes, we just like laughing.... No offense, dude. We're not emotionless..

Anyway, it was a good time. Lots of fun. It was the first time in a long time where good charlotte was the only headliner, so they had a full set. Lots of old songs we played, lots of dancing was had, and we even learned how to count to four!

They should just keep doing their own tours, even if it means smaller clubs now. It's just more fun, ya'll. Plus they tour with such crappy bands, ya know? Oy.

Saw this sign on the drive home after seeing, "Blue Valentine"... which was ironic beause Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling's character needed to go to this seminar STAT!

This movie was really good. It's one of those movies that sucks you in, making you feel angry, sad, frustrated, and awkward right along with the characters throughout the movie. Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams acted their ASSES off.

Just remember one thing..
When in doubt, dance it out (to this song. It seemed to work for them..)

For my NEXT birthday trick...

Lady Gaga (or Ga-GA as a few privileged are allowed to call her..) called Jenell and I and BEGGED us to come out to eat with her at the boardwalk hall in atlantic city. Little did we know, it was a surprise party. And it had a photobooth. See?

That was all a lie. That was just the photobooth on my phone. Sigh.
Anyway! We went to the MONSTER BALL in ATLANTIC CITY, and despite requests to sit down, we couldn't. We just could not sit down. We had to dance and do this...

It was fun. I think I could go to the Monsterball once a month.. her music is that fun. I'm stoked to go to the "Born This Way Ball" (i think she should change the name.) already. AND! We were the first concert that got to see her perform "Born This Way", so, yeah, be jealous, cause I know you are. Right? Yeah.. right? You are? Anyway. It's a bloody good time which is why this picture is appropriate:

Side story that is awesome: when this drag queen dressed as Lady Gaga walked down an aisle to get to her seat, everyone in the arena seriously thought it was Lady Gaga and took pictures and were screaming and clapping. It was brilliant. I felt really proud for the Drag Queen -- success! Jenell and I had seen her earlier in a bar, so we knew it wasn't Lady Gaga. But people really thought it was her, even when she and I were telling people, "it's a dude!" .. they didn't listen!

Later, Jenell sucessfully surprised me with these delicious strawberry icing/strawberry cake cupcakes. Be Jealous, ya'll. They were DELICIOUS!!

Steelers lost. ANYWAY. This was an odd thing. All day I was hearing about this "puppy bowl", after awhile, my curiosity got the best of me and I decided to check it out.

I turned it on during the "Kitty Halftime Show" and just saw a lot of kittens playing with cat toys as confetti rained down on them. That was pretty cheesy...

Then "the big game" came back on. A lot of puppies ran onto the field and they all just ran around and played with each other while an announcer said things like, "Looks like Spot is right on Fido's tail!" and other really stupid things.

What is the protocol for when you see a stray dog running around?
I came back to work after my lunch break and just saw a dog running in front of all the houses across the street. It's not far from a really busy intersection, and all I could think of was the dog's owner freaking out and looking frantically for their dog.
So what's the deal? Do you call animal control? I don't know, I just know I thought about the dog randomly throughout the rest of the day.

Another Retro Movie Niiight
Went with Jenell and Matt to enjoy some Robin's and then we went and saw, "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" which is a movie I've seen a lot, but it's still fun to see it in the theater. We didn't get the version with the person having the "Dream" dental treatment (actually, no one has seen that version except for Matt..), but the movie was good regardless!
This is my favorite scene in the movie:

On the Third Day of Celebrations (we go big.) -- some of our friends had rented out a warehouse to do some wrestling and I learned a very valuable life lesson..

When you get knocked out of the ring (of life...)

Your fake brother will always be there to help you back up again. (Jenell is my fake brother for those who aren't keeping up..)

The wrestling was fun to watch, lots of laughs, and I'm still a huge fan of William whateverhislastnamewas despite the fact that he doesn't want any fans. HE SPIT ACID ON VIC'S FACE! He could hold acid in his mouth! How could I not be a fan?

Later, Jenell and I went to the Eagles playoff game, AKA, out to dinner. Jenell finally had a meal on her birthday weekend that she liked.. it only took 3 days to get one. But success! The Eagles game was great, and Jenell's mom called, so maybe that's why Jenell's meal was actually good..

Night 2 of Jenell's birthday actually got us to a proper karaoke experience. Not only did it bring bad chicken fingers, it also brought Katie and Lisa! Somebody put on Peaches and Herb's "Reunited" STAT!!!!

Don't worry.. I got it.

ANYWAY, lots of songs were sung. Here's a list of what went down:
Jenell: "Alejandro" by Lady Gaga; "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves" by Cher
Matt C: "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm" by Crash Test Dummies, surprise pick by Jenell, Lisa and myself.
Katie: "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" by Frankie Valli, surprise pick by Jenell, Lisa and myself.
Doc: "Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley and a song by Danzig

Yeah, we go hard. If you opt not to put your name in, I find it best to just pick one for you without you knowing and give it to the DJ. Luckily, my friends are all seasoned Kareoke performers, so no one minds much when they're randomly called up to sing. Lisa, Matt, Steve and myself all put in songs too but we didn't get our turns. OUTRAGE!!!

Anyway, Matt played some pranks and tried to spy out when they'd unfold...

While Matt and Jenell totally knew each other, and Steve kinda looks like he's a stranger who accidentally got in the shot...

Then Steve got lost and said, "Can you direct me to the Civil War?"

By the end of the night, Katie finally realized she got Chicken Pocket-ed. Matt was stoked his prank unfolded successfully, while Katie did not approve. OUTRAGE! Or Something!

Dun dun dun DUUUNN!!! It's January 7th, and you know what means? It means it's Jenell's Birthday! We started the birthday weekend off with this guy.....

He was kinda hated by all the women at our table except for me. Amy considered him an enemy right off the back and warned us that he was going to threaten to squirt ketchup on us, but it would be a lie. Later, he tried to make Jenell catch some chicken, but she wasn't having it! And he wasn't giving up! He didn't bother me too much though.

But overall, we were happy! Despite the fact that they didn't have kareoke, even though they told us they would.... then they didn't. It was very complicated. All I know is that instead of singing that night, we went to a club where some danced, some drank, and I did neither. (medications and back pain will restrict you!)

But some friendships were made..... (or were they?)

there was potential for love.... (or was there?)

And cupcakes were had..... (or were they?)

I went to Jenell's to exchange some Christmas Gifts FINALLY. Between her being in CA and me in PA, we didn't get to exchange gifts til 2011. Whoops!

Needless to say, she got me great presents -- for instance, this lovely hand painted bag!

I also took this picture to show how much she likes me with the "Nobody likes you" closer, then had a laugh because you can also see she wrote, "go to hell", and taken out of context, this looks like the meanest Christmas card to ever exist! I won't ruin her reputation by saying otherwise..

After a day of a big family after-wedding brunch, cancelled and rescheduled honeymoons, and the witnessing of opening wedding cards and presents.. some of us went out to dinner to "Quaker, Steak and Lube".

This place was featured on "Man Vs Food" and apparently, he failed the challenge of eating the Atomic wings. Apparently, my family is full of wusses, cause no one wanted to attempt the Atomic wings! PSH! However, I shouldn't be too hard on them, I got the "tequila lime bbq" flavored wings, and as you can see above, they're low on the list, and no one else got lower than me. So I was the wussiest of the wusses, I guess... sigh.

My cousin Emily got Married! Or... she's just playing an elaborate game of dress up...

No. No she definitely got married. I should know, I WENT after all.

I got to see lots of family and have a good time with them. I was also proud of myself because by the end of the night, a lot of my family members and Emily's friends were all digging the Shirley Temple's with vodka. I started a trend!!

But it was a great party in honor of these two lovely people...

It really hurts to get your hair teased when there's hairspray in it. But the results are awesome...

We then traveled to my other Aunt and Uncle's to start preparing for my cousin Emily's wedding. First, a whole bunch of women went to a nail salon and we got our nails done. This is not something I do that often at all, so it was really funny to me that somehow I ended up with this on my toe:
